We may be slightly biased, but here at WorkCast, we think our team is pretty great. They’re an integral part of what makes WorkCast, well, WorkCast. So we like to take every opportunity we can to show them off to the world. In our latest employee spotlight, we head over to our Seattle team to catch up with Jackie, our Lead Project Manager, and her cute-as-pie dog, Guinness.
Tell us a little about what you do at WorkCast?
I am a Project Manager, which means I handle Virtual Events from start to finish. I am responsible for coordinating with the client to bring their vision for the event to life, manage timelines and expectations, and wrangle the internal resources to get it done.
Describe a typical day for you at WorkCast?
The day always starts with meetings with the UK team to talk about upcoming events, current projects, and the status of event builds. There are usually client meetings throughout the day, and I spend the remainder of my time coordinating and designing.
What is your favorite thing about WorkCast?
The people! Onboarding remotely is so different from starting a new job in an office, but every single member of Team WorkCast has been welcoming, helpful, and most of all patient as I have been getting up to speed. We are growing so fast that everyone is working above and beyond to deliver for our clients, but they all still took the time to make sure I had everything I needed. Everyone is hardworking and dedicated but still manages to have fun.
What is your top tip for someone who is planning their first virtual event?
Online engagement isn’t better or worse than in person, but it is very different. I know that the first thought for many of our new clients that are used to in-person only events is that they will just replicate it in the virtual world, but there is so much more you can do! If you can think outside of the box (and let us help you do it) you can take what has worked for your company and make it better, more effective, more engaging and something your attendees haven’t seen before.
Now for a little bit about ‘out of office’ Jackie.
If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Adaptable, adventurous, loyal.
What song are you hooked on right now?
1977 by Ana Tijoux. Give it a listen.
2020 has been a bit of a strange year, have you got anything lined up that you are looking forward to?
I live to travel, and I had to cancel all of my 2020 trips. As soon as the pandemic ends, I will be on the first plane out of the country! I’m also hoping the Seattle restaurant scene survives this, because I miss eating out something fierce. Lastly, hugging people. The elbow bump just isn’t doing anything for me.
